How I Grew

In the 10th grade, I learned how to properly prepare myself to deliver research and information in a professional and creative way. I also gained many strengths in collaboration and communication through group projects. For the monologue project, we researched about different countries that experienced imperialism. After the research, we created a monologue that demonstrated the life of a certain person that was imperialized. Our final goal was to make a monologue to show the person’s life in more depth. This caused me to practice my script and present the information researched so it is an accurate depiction.

During our research, we had a professional actor come to our school to help us practice different techniques to practice presenting. Before Scott came in, the actor, I wasn’t sure how to properly prepare for presenting. When we had our first day with Scott, I did not know about any of the techniques he was showing to prepare us to present. This shows that I did not know the best ways to present. After a couple days of working with Scott, I felt I knew how to use the techniques he showed us to help me for my presentation. I was able to gather my research a present it to my peers and teachers.

When presenting, I was able to use the techniques I acquired from Scott. My presentation shows I learned the skills because I got a good grade on using the correct emotion and feelings during my presentation. These skills helped me stay calm and professionally present the information to my peers when before it was a little difficult to present in front of a crowd. There were

previous presentations before the monologue that I did not receive as good as a grade. Having the time to learn and practice the techniques shows in the different grades I got from the monologue and other presentations.

These skills will later help me in the future. We have many projects where we present our information. Having these skills will make all of those presentations easier in preparing and in presenting the information.
