How I Excelled
In unit 1 of Chinese we were learning new ways and the proper technique to start a conversation and talk to someone in Chinese. When we first began the unit, we took a pretest and I did not score as well as I could have on the test. After the lessons we had and activities, I was able to obtain information about the proper way to communicate in Chinese and what to say. At the end of the unit, we had a unit test I had a pretty well grade on that. The ways that I studied and figured out the characters and pinyin like flash cards and Quizlet helped very much. As we go further into our lessons in Chinese, I will have a better understanding of the information and will more easily be able to learn the new information we will have. Also knowing which study methods help the most will help me remember the content faster and better.
We also had to make up a dialogue in Chinese with a partner. We had to have certain characters from the lessons we had to show that we could properly use them. When we first started the unit I only knew the basic concepts of communicating, but the dialogue my partner and I made shows that we fully know the new terms and can use them. I knew a certain amount of characters at the beginning of 9th grade, we learned and review 50 or more new characters and concepts in Chinese class.
During the unit 1, I used persistence the most. There were some times where I was having difficulty understanding charters and what they mean but I just spent extra time on them so I could understand them. I had to figure out what I needed to do to study and that took time. Learning the studying methods will help for Chinese in the future and classes in general.
